Enercity and ENERCON Sign $914M Onshore Wind Partnership Deal

Enercity Erneuerbare and ENERCON, two companies based in Lower Saxony, Germany, have signed a partnership agreement worth up to €800 million ($914.5 million) to supply 100 wind turbines for the German onshore wind market. The two-year contract, with an option for extension, aims to support Germany’s renewable energy goals through the delivery of various turbine models.

More than 30 wind turbines from this contract are expected to be deployed in 2025.

Ralf Nietiet and Daniel Müller, managing directors of enercity Erneuerbare, stated: “Ambitious growth and expansion targets can be realised even more efficiently with strong partners. With ENERCON, we ensure reliable access to high-quality technology within a contractually defined timeframe. In addition, both sides benefit from transparent pricing – this combination of quantity, time and price provides planning security for both sides.” The agreement followed a tender process by enercity Erneuerbare, fostering collaboration that strengthens the regional economy in northern Germany.

More than 30 of the wind turbines are scheduled for deployment in 2025, contributing to Germany’s plan to phase out coal-fired power plants by 2038 and increase renewable energy capacity to meet energy demands. The partnership emphasizes efficient project execution and reliable technology to support this transition.

Benjamin Seifert, ENERCON’s regional head for Central and Northern Europe, noted: “The wind energy market in Germany has picked up speed. The transfer of building permits to project implementation is increasing. The prerequisite for successful projects will be an early and agile cooperation between the project participants. The drafting of the contract in recent months and also the first projects in implementation show that we have found a very constructive level between the two companies. We are very pleased to supply enercity’s projects and to shape the energy transition sustainably and together.”

In a related development, ENERCON collaborated with Salzgitter’s subsidiary Ilsenburger Grobblech and TMGROUP’s SMB Schönebecker Maschinenbau in March 2025 to produce a lower-emissions steel tower for wind turbines, further supporting sustainable advancements in the sector. This partnership underscores Germany’s commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure while promoting regional economic growth and environmental sustainability.
