The project is managed by the newly transferred special purpose vehicle WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission.
The initiative includes establishing 3,000 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of substation capacity and related transmission infrastructure. This will expand AESL’s transmission network to 26,696 circuit kilometers and 93,236 MVA of transformation capacity. The company’s current transmission order book is valued at Rs616 billion. AESL secured the project through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, coordinated by REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL).
AESL, part of the diversified Adani portfolio, operates in power transmission, distribution, smart metering, and cooling solutions. It serves 13 million consumers in Mumbai and the Mundra Special Economic Zone, a key industrial hub. An AESL spokesperson stated: “This project strengthens our commitment to supporting India’s renewable energy goals and enhancing power reliability for millions.”
In March 2025, AESL also won a Rs28 billion transmission project in Gujarat to support green hydrogen and green ammonia production in Mundra. Set for completion by 2028, it involves upgrading the Navinal (Mundra) substation with two 765/400kV transformers and constructing a 75-kilometer 765kV double-circuit line connecting to the Bhuj substation.
These projects highlight AESL’s role in advancing India’s energy infrastructure, particularly in facilitating renewable energy integration. The Maharashtra project will ensure efficient power delivery to urban and industrial regions, while the Gujarat initiative supports sustainable energy production. Both efforts align with India’s growing demand for reliable and clean energy solutions.
