NIDC Drilling Operations Complete 20 Wells in Two Months

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) successfully completed the drilling of 20 onshore oil and gas wells over a two-month period ending May 21, utilizing its own rigs. This milestone highlights the company’s progress in its drilling program.

The wells included four for development and appraisal, plus 16 for workover or completion.

Hamidreza Shafi’ee Makvandi, NIDC’s deputy head for drilling operations, reported that the wells included four development and appraisal wells and 16 workover or completion wells. “This achievement reflects our commitment to advancing Iran’s energy sector with efficiency and precision,” he stated.

Most of these wells were located in oilfields operated by the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC). Additional wells were drilled for the Central Iranian Oil Fields Company, the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, and the Pars Oil and Gas Company, with one project completed and delivered to the client.

The total drilling depth reached 21,773 meters, an increase of 1,619 meters compared to the same period last year. Shafi’ee Makvandi also emphasized the strategic repositioning of 12 drilling rigs across various operational areas to enhance efficiency and optimize NIDC’s drilling efforts.

In a separate development, Iran and Russia reached an agreement in April for annual gas supplies of 55 billion cubic meters. This deal strengthens energy cooperation between the two nations and supports Iran’s energy export capabilities.

Additionally, Russia has committed to funding the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Iran, further expanding their collaboration in the energy sector. This project aims to bolster Iran’s energy infrastructure and contribute to its long-term energy goals.

NIDC’s recent drilling accomplishments underscore its role in advancing Iran’s oil and gas industry, while the international partnerships reflect efforts to strengthen energy ties and support sustainable development in the region.
