Enersense Wins Finnish Substation Contract

08 May 2025  by renews
Enersense, a Finnish energy infrastructure company, has been appointed as the main contractor for Fingrid’s Herva 400/110kV substation project in the municipality of Ii, Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. The substation will facilitate the integration of new wind farms into the national grid, supporting the region’s growing renewable energy capacity.

The Herva substation is part of a broader contract package aimed at enhancing energy infrastructure. Northern Ostrobothnia has experienced significant wind power development, and the new facility will enable efficient energy transmission from northern to southern Finland. Enersense is also constructing the Herva–Nuojuankangas power line, which will connect to the substation, further strengthening the grid.

Enersense has been active in the region, having completed the Simojoki substation earlier this year and currently working on expansions of Fingrid’s substations in Vaala and Muhos. These projects underscore the company’s role in supporting Finland’s energy transition and grid reliability.

Anssi Niiles, director of substation operations at Enersense, stated: “We’re pleased to see continuity in our ongoing projects, as we have a strong partnership with Fingrid. It’s great to be part of strengthening critical electricity infrastructure that is vital to the functioning of society, while also enabling the clean energy transition.”

The Herva project, valued at approximately €15 million, will engage Enersense through the end of 2027. The contract will be recorded in the order book of Enersense’s Power segment for the second quarter of 2025. This initiative aligns with Finland’s commitment to expanding renewable energy sources and ensuring a stable, sustainable power supply.

By connecting new wind farms to the grid, the Herva substation will contribute to the region’s economic and environmental goals, reinforcing the infrastructure needed for a cleaner energy future.
