Eavor Continues Geothermal Development in Germany Amidst Management Changes

18 Apr 2025  by thinkgeoenergy
Eavor GmbH, a geothermal energy company, has appointed Marco Becker and Chris Cheng as its new Managing Directors, leading the company jointly. Both have held significant operational roles within Eavor, bringing extensive knowledge of its activities. Additionally, Fabricio Cesario has been named Managing Director of Eavor Erdwärme Geretsried GmbH. This new leadership team succeeds Daniel Mölk, who played a key role in establishing Eavor’s operations in Germany.

The company reaffirmed its dedication to advancing its geothermal projects in Germany under the new management. The Geretsried project, Eavor’s first commercial-scale deployment of its innovative Eavor-Loop technology, is on track to begin power generation in the second half of 2025. Eavor is also progressing with a second geothermal initiative in Hanover, where a seismic survey was recently completed, with drilling scheduled to start by the summer.

Marco Becker commented on the transition: “We are committed to building on the strong foundation established in Germany, ensuring the Geretsried project and our other initiatives continue to move forward efficiently. Our focus remains on delivering sustainable energy solutions through innovative geothermal technology.”

Chris Cheng added: “The opportunity to lead Eavor at this pivotal moment is exciting. With the Geretsried project nearing completion and new developments like Hanover underway, we aim to drive progress in Germany’s renewable energy sector while maintaining operational excellence.”

Daniel Mölk’s departure marks a significant change, given his contributions to Eavor’s growth in Germany. He was instrumental in launching the Geretsried project, advancing the seismic campaign in Neu-Ulm, and completing the seismic study in Hanover. His efforts helped position the Geretsried project, a closed-loop geothermal system, close to operational success.

Fabricio Cesario, now leading Eavor Erdwärme Geretsried GmbH, emphasized the project’s importance: “The Geretsried project represents a milestone in geothermal energy, showcasing the potential of Eavor-Loop technology. We are dedicated to ensuring its successful completion and contributing to sustainable energy production in Germany.”

Eavor’s projects support Germany’s renewable energy goals by providing clean, reliable power. The Geretsried initiative, in particular, demonstrates the scalability of closed-loop geothermal systems, which minimize environmental impact while maximizing energy output. The Hanover project further expands Eavor’s footprint, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy development.

The transition to new leadership is expected to maintain momentum across Eavor’s German operations
