Wayang Windu geothermal power plant, West Java, Indonesia
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Singapore Branch and DBS Bank served as the initial lenders and coordinators for the green loan financing. The agreement allocates $114.5 million to SEGP and $25 million to SEGWWL to advance the Wayang Windu geothermal project.
The financing will support two key initiatives. First, it will fund the retrofitting of Wayang Windu Units 1 and 2, which is expected to add 18.4 MW of capacity. Second, it will enable the construction of a new 30-MW Wayang Windu Unit 3. These efforts are part of Star Energy Geothermal’s broader plan to increase power generation capacity by 102.6 MW.
Earlier this year, Star Energy Geothermal completed testing of the 15.5 MW Sal PROGRESS: ak binary geothermal power plant, marking progress in its renewable energy initiatives. The Wayang Windu expansion aligns with the company’s commitment to enhancing sustainable energy production in Indonesia.
The project is expected to contribute to the region’s renewable energy goals by leveraging geothermal resources in West Java. The collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and DBS Bank underscores the financial sector’s support for environmentally focused energy projects.
