Pine Gate Renewables and Meta Ink Agreement for 204-MW Texas Solar Farm

Meta, the entity formerly known as Facebook, and Pine Gate Renewables, a developer and owner-operator of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, announced the execution of an agreement for the renewable attributes from a Pine Gate solar project located in Temple, Texas.

The 204-MW Limewood Bell Solar Project in Bell County is expected to be operational in 2026. It’s located seven miles away from Meta’s Temple Data Center. Pine Gate says the project is relevant to Meta’s commitment to net zero emissions and 100% renewable energy for its global operations.

This new agreement doubles down on an existing partnership between Pine Gate and Meta and is the first deal between the two entities for renewable attributes from a solar project in Texas.

“We are excited to partner with Pine Gate to bring this project to the grid in support of our sustainability goals,” added Urvi Parekh, head of renewable energy for Meta. “This project will help us continue our commitment to support all of our operations, including our Temple Data Center, with 100% renewable energy.”

Last month, Pine Gate Renewables announced the final closing of a $650 million investment from Generate Capital, the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), and HESTA. The investment will accelerate Pine Gate’s work as a national developer, owner, and operator of clean energy projects and support the financing of an incremental three GW of clean energy infrastructure by 2025.

Pine Gate has closed more than $7 billion in project financing and capital investment. Per the company, Pine Gate’s operational fleet includes more than 100 solar facilities accounting for more than two gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity. It has over 30 GW of projects in development.
