Shanghai Electric Group, a prominent Chinese conglomerate specializing in energy equipment manufacturing, is making strides to alleviate Pakistan's energy crisis. Recently, during his visit to Pakistan, the Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group, Mr. Wu Lei, engaged in fruitful discussions with the Prime Minister and officials of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

In these meetings, Mr. Lei commended the efforts of the SIFC and urged more foreign investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan. Highlighting Shanghai Electric Group's investment in Pakistan's Thar Coal Block-1, he emphasized the company's commitment to bolstering coal-based power projects in the country.

This move aims to reduce Pakistan's reliance on imported coal, thereby curbing the energy import bill and ensuring affordable energy access.

By increasing investment in coal-based power initiatives, Shanghai Electric Group endeavors to facilitate the transition of foreign power plants to coal, contributing significantly to Pakistan's energy landscape. This strategic partnership holds promise for fostering sustainable energy solutions and fostering economic growth in Pakistan.
