Diamond Offshore Clinches New $350M Drillship Deal with BP

04 Mar 2024  by splash247

Houston-based Diamond Offshore Drilling has secured a two-year contract extension with a subsidiary of BP in the US Gulf of Mexico for the seventh-generation drillship Ocean BlackHornet.

The New York-listed driller said the new campaign starts in February next year in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract.

The deal for the 2014-built floater should bring in approximately $350m of additional backlog.

“This award, along with the recent Ocean BlackLion award, contributes significantly to our 2025 and 2026 backlog and future cash flows,” noted Bernie Wolford, president and chief executive at Diamond Offshore.

The 2015-built drillship Ocean BlackLion is set to start its new two-year contract with BP in September, also worth about $350m.
