Kunnar Pasakhi Deep Field in Pakistan Restarts Productio

Oil & Gas Development Co. Ltd. (OGDCL) has revived production at the Kunnar Pasakhi Deep field with the reinjection of six wells.

The field onshore Sindh province is currently producing 1,600 barrels per day (bpd) of condensate, 107 million cubic feet per day of sale gas and 195,000 metric tons per day of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), Pakistan’s majority state-owned OGDCL said in a recent regulatory filing.

Processing at the field includes two trains of amine sweetening and glycol dehydration units, as well as LPG extraction and related facilities, the exploration and production company said.

“Oil & Gas Development Company Limited as part of its production optimization drive has successfully re-injected six low pressure wells from Kunnar Pasakhi Deep Field through in-house arrangement of compression and operational modifications”, the bourse disclosure stated. “This has resulted in enhancement of 16 MMSCFD [million cubic feet per day] of gas, 150 BPD of condensate and 18 MTD [thousand metric tons per day] LPG from the Field”.

The project supplies natural gas utility Sui Southern Gas Co. Ltd., which earlier warned in August maintenance activities at Kunnar Pasakhi Deep would affect its operations.

Kunnar Pasakhi Deep’s return to production is part of “OGDCL's relentless efforts to address the decline in gas production and enhance national energy security”, OGDCL said in the filing with the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Earlier OGDCL completed the Khewari gas project, also in Sindh, including the installation of a 14.5-kilometer (9.01 miles) pipeline six inches in diameter. Khewari has the potential to produce 10 million cubic feet per day of gas, according to OGDCL’s announcement of the project completion November 22.

OGDCL said at the time in a regulatory filing, “Currently 7 MMSCFD of gas is being processed at the Sinjhoro Plant in the Sanghar District, Sindh Province, and will be ramped up to the full potential”.

“The wells are under choke optimization process for further enhancement in gas supply”, OGDCL added.

OGDCL has three other projects set to be completed 2024 or 2025 according to its earnings report for the quarter ended September.

In the quarter ended September OGDCL had an average production of 32,835 barrels of oil, 762 million cubic feet of gas and 713 metric tons of LPG. “The Company’s production during the period under review contributed around 45 percent, 29 percent and 37 percent towards Country’s total oil, natural gas and LPG production respectively”, OGDCL said in the quarterly report.

In June OGDCL brought to production the Bettani oil and gas field in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The quarterly report said, “At present, further field development is being undertaken to enhance oil and gas production, whereby drilling activities are underway at Bettani-2 well”.

“In pursuance to production optimization plan, incremental cumulative daily production of 3,860 barrels of crude oil, 31 MMcf of gas and 51 Tons of LPG were recorded at various operated wells”.
