Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has started construction of a new facility to enable the construction of 175,000 cbm LNG carriers.

The project was designed by CSSC Ninth Design and Research Institute Engineering, and the total length of the new wharf will be 410 meters with a width of 25 meters. The new LNG construction terminal is expected to be completed in March 2024.

The rear platform is 410 meters long and 20 meters wide. An approach bridge will be set up to connect the wharf to connect to land. The wharf will be equipped with a 50-ton portal crane and a boarding tower. The project will include the renovation of hydropower and other power supply facilities.

According to Jiangnan, the construction of this project will effectively solve the bottleneck that limits the company’s production capacity and enable it to have the ability to produce four LNG carriers of 175,000 cubic meters per year.

The newly built wharf will also include the ability to refuel new dual-fuel ships such as 15,000 teu dual-fuel powered container ships as well as test liquid tanks of 93,000 cubic meter VLGCs.
