Nextracker announced the signing of an agreement with India-based Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWRE) to deliver its solar tracker solutions to NTPC Renewable Energy Limited's 1.568-GWdc (1.255-GWac) solar PV project in Khavda RE Park, Gujarat, which is expected to be operational by the first half of 2024.

Under the agreement, SWRE will adopt Nextracker's optimized bifacial solar tracker solutions combined with bifacial PV modules for NTPC REL's project, aiming for a higher energy yield.

"Nextracker has been a great partner for us in India and in the global markets we serve, and we are glad to associate with them for this project. Together, we aim to deliver a landmark project and contribute to India's renewable energy targets," said Amit Jain, Global CEO of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group.

"The Khavda project is a phenomenal venture to be a part of where we can support Make in India with 75% of our system components manufactured in the country and it supports India's target to reach 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030," said Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker.

In addition to the technology, most of the components will be made with steel supplied by local factories in Gujarat.

To date, the company has reached an annual manufacturing capacity of 5 GW in India and operated 25 solar and renewable energy projects nationwide, contributing to the country's decarbonization goals and momentous programs like National Solar Energy Mission inaugurated in 2020.
