JERA led an equity investment round of US-based trusted distributed computing firm Intertrust and entered a strategic partnership to develop a digital platform to fight climate change and roll out clean energy.

In a statement, JERA said the companies will collaborate and use Intertrust’s platform for the deployment of secure energy systems.

Japan’s largest energy generator said that “robust, secure computing systems and internet-of-things devices” are crucial in the clean energy transition.

“We are delighted to partner with and invest in Intertrust,” said Dr. Sami Ben Jamaa, JERA’s global chief information and digital officer. “JERA’s goal is to provide clean energy for the growing planet. We are looking forward to collaborating with Intertrust to deliver a revolutionary, new digital energy platform in which Intertrust technology will play a critical role.”

It added that Intertrust’s technologies allow the management and operation of offshore wind farms, and grid planning.
