Trina Solar Breaks Ground for PV Factory in China

08 Jul 2022  by asian-power.com
Trina Solar held a groundbreaking ceremony for its photovoltaic (PV) project in Xining, the provincial capital of Qinghai in China, which covers almost the entire PV manufacturing chain.

In a statement, the company said the factory, which will engage in services from polysilicon production modules based on 210mm and N-Type technology, is expected to have an annual output of 300,000 metric tonnes (mt) of industrial silicon.

It is also expected to produce annually 150,000mt of high-purity polysilicon, 35 gigawatts (GW) of monosilicon, 10GW of wafer slices, 10GW of cells, 10GW of modules, and 15GW of auxiliaries for modules.

“As the industry rapidly moves toward a new stage of N-type in line with the company’s strategic development, Trina Solar is establishing an industrial chain to further improve industrialization of next-generation N-type cell technology, guide the industry toward switching to the N-type and create greater value for customers,” it said.

The plans for the first phase of the project, which will be completed by the end-2023, include an annual output of 100,000mt of industrial silicon, 50,000mt of high-purity polysilicon, 20GW of monosilicon, 5GW of wafer slices, 5GW of cells, 5GW of modules, and 7.5GW of auxiliaries.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the project, which is expected to be completed by end of 2025, includes the yearly output of 200,000mt of industrial silicon, 100,000mt of high-purity polysilicon, 15GW of monosilicon, 5GW of wafer slices, 5GW of cells, 5GW of modules 5GW, and 7.5GW of auxiliaries.
