The companies will examine cooperation opportunities such as fuel cell manufacturing.

Adani Group and Ballard Power Systems entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) last month to evaluate the commercialisation of hydrogen fuel cells in mobility and industry applications in India.

In a statement, Adani Group said that under the MoU, both parties will explore options for cooperation including collaboration for fuel cell manufacturing in India.

“Green hydrogen is the fuel of the future and fuel cells will be a game-changer in India’s energy transition,” Vneet S. Jaain, director of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) said.

“We will be deploying innovative use cases across our businesses with fuel cell trucks, mining equipment, marine vessels, off-road vehicles, and critical industrial power. We will shape the industry through this strategic collaboration,” he added.

ANIL, the newly-formed subsidiary of Adani Enterprises that is focussed on green hydrogen generation, including downstream products, green electricity generation, and manufacturing of electrolyzers and wind turbines, amongst other, will lead the efforts under the MoU.

Adani Group added that it aims to “one of the largest green hydrogen producers globally through accelerated investment in renewable energy.
