In 2013, friendly relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Fiji continued to grow.

Cooperation in trade, law enforcement and people-to-people exchanges made new headway. The China-assisted Sea Wall and other projects were completed smoothly. The Navua Hospital, Somosomo Mini Hydropower Station, Mushroom Project, affordable housing, highway upgrade and other projects were well underway. The Fiji police provided assistance to the Chinese side in arresting a number of Chinese fugitives. A friendship delegation and a medical team from Guangdong Province visited Fiji.
