Primergy Solar LLC, a portfolio company of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, has contracted the SunPower spin-off to deliver almost 1.8 million shingled bifacial Performance 5 UPP solar panels for the particular project. According to Maxeon, its modules are engineered with materials that will protect cells and minimise power loss from exposure to the extreme environmental conditions in Nevada.

The company will manufacture large-format G12 mono-PERC solar cells for the modules at its factory in Malaysia and will assemble the panels in Mexicali, Mexico. Deliveries will be made over a four-quarter period that will begin in April-June 2022, with project completion planned to occur by the end of 2023.

Maxeon noted that this order will take a significant portion of the expected output of its new capacity during the first year of operation.
