SPIC Holds Open Day Event at Hunutlu Power Plant Project in Turkey

25 Dec 2020  by Zhang Tingting

An open day event at the Hunutlu Power Plant project in Turkey was held by State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) through livestreaming on Dec. 23.

It was designed to show the plant's construction progress and SPIC's efforts in promoting sustainable development.

Located in Adana province, the plant neighbors the Mediterranean Sea and has a total installed capacity of 1.32 million kilowatts.

As Turkey's first thermal power plant without the traditional flue-gas stack, the plant is equipped with advanced environmental protection and ultra-supercritical power generation techniques, leading to less coal consumption and pollutant emissions.

The plant, a key project linking the Belt and Road Initiative with Turkey's development vision of a "Middle Corridor," is expected to produce about nine billion kWh of power annually upon completion.

It will be a major power source of Adana and play a role in boosting economic and social development in the entire country.

At the open day event, SPIC also released a report on the project's social impact during construction, which included fulfillment of social responsibilities and contributions to local ecological environmental protection and sustainable development.

In recent years, SPIC has developed overseas projects in 46 countries including Brazil, Chile, Malta, Pakistan and Australia, with a total installed capacity of 6.06 million kw, 70 percent of which exclusively delivered clean power.
