Vestas Probes V150 Collapse in Sweden

24 Nov 2020  by renews.biz

Vestas and WPD have started a probe into the collapse of turbine at a 72MW wind farm in Sweden over the weekend.

The Danish manufacturer said that during the night of 21 and 22 November a V150-4.2MW machine collapsed at WPD's Aldermyrberget wind farm in the municipality of Skelleftea in the north of the country.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident and the area has been secured, Vestas said in a statement.

“Vestas experts have initiated the investigations in close cooperation with the customer to determine the root cause of this incident,” it added.

The company declined to give further comment “until our technical experts have preliminary findings from the root cause analysis”.

Vestas was contracted to supply and install 17 V150-4.2MW turbines with 155-metre hub heights at Aldermyrberget.
