China Imported 18.676 Million Tons of Coal in September

According to data released by the General Administration of Customs on October 13, China imported 18.676 million tons of coal in September 2020, a decrease of 11.612 million tons or 38.34% from 30.288 million tons in the same period last year.

This was a decrease of 1.987 million tons, or 9.62%, from 20.663 million tons in August.

Coal imports in September were US$1172.8 million, a year-on-year decrease of 51.3% and a month-on-month decrease of 15.61%. Based on this, the unit price of imports is estimated to be US$62.80/ton, a year-on-year decrease of US$16.71/ton and a month-on-month drop of US$4.46/ton.

From January to September 2020, the country imported a total of 239.429 million tons of coal, a year-on-year decrease of 4.4%; the cumulative import value was US$16,687,700, a year-on-year decrease of 15.8%.
