On August 25, local time, the A7a branch tunnel of the main channel of the Pakistan SK Hydropower Project, which was invested and constructed by the China Energy Construction Gezhouba Group, was successfully completed. So far, the branch tunnels of the SK Hydropower Project were all connected.

SK Hydropower Station is a long-distance diversion type power station. The diversion tunnel is 23.1 kilometers in length and is the key line of the project. The A7a construction branch is the most critical line of the diversion tunnel. The designed total length is 825.8 meters and the average slope is 6.3%. Facing difficulties such as the steep terrain, narrow site, and poor geological conditions at the entrance of the cave, the project department of Gezhouba No. 3 Company, which is responsible for the construction task, is not only doing a good job in epidemic prevention and control, but also equipped with experienced construction personnel to continuously improve the construction technology and strengthen the process connection. Optimize the blasting design to ensure that the footage in each cycle meets the standard. The construction technology of drilling and blasting and supporting parallel operation is adopted to shorten the time per cycle and effectively improve the construction progress.

The SK Hydropower Project is located in the Cape Province of Pakistan, 265 kilometers away from Islamabad. The total installed capacity of the power station is 873 MW. The total investment is 1.963 billion US dollars. The construction period is 6 years and is expected to be completed before the end of 2022.
